Texas-brewed ales, stouts and lagers will be on tap during the Woodforest Craft Fest, hosted by master-planned community Woodforest on Saturday, Sept. 24.
The inaugural festival will allow craft beer aficionados to sample a range of local, artisanally produced creations from 1 – 5 p.m. at the Christine Allen Nature Park, 5831 Woodforest Parkway South.
The free event is one of the largest public festivals the South Montgomery County community has ever held, said Shannon League, marketing director for Woodforest.
Texas’ oldest craft brewery, Saint Arnold Brewing Company, heads up the list of breweries offering tastes of their malty, hoppy and whimsically named fermented concoctions.
Houston’s Karbach Brewing Co., home of Sympathy for the Lager and Weekend Warrior Pale Ale, also will be in attendance, as will Boomtown Blonde brewer Spindletap Brewery. Spindletap will offer both food and beer samples.
Cyclers Brewery, located in Historic Montgomery, will bring a selection of international-style beers such as its Belgian Dom’e’stique Wit and British Breakaway IPA.
The breweries will not be able to sell their beers – only offer tastes – but the Woodforest Golf Club will have beer and wine available for purchase. Haus of Growlers will be selling growlers that allow beer lovers to express themselves with graphics and sayings. Food trucks such as the Sauced Pig will be on hand with a range of food options. Plus, a jumbotron television will air college football games during the festival.
