Top 5 Woodlands Restaurants by Local Foodie – Nick Rama

The Republic Grille - The Woodlands Monocle

Consider yourself a foodie? Nick Rama breaks down the Top 5 Woodlands Restaurants for us and includes his favorite meals!

(Nick Rama) – When the Woodlands Monocle contacted me to put together my top 5 restaurants list for The Woodlands, TX there was a slight problem, because most of my personal favorites were right outside The Woodlands proper (in Spring, Oak Ridge, Shenandoah). I guess we will have to do this article in two parts and I will get to the outskirts next week.  The Top 5 Restaurants that have impressed me most with their excellent and consistent food and top notch service:

#5) Republic Grille – $$

4775 West Panther Creek Drive #490 – Map

I love a good Chicken Fried Steak; I am here to tell you that Republic Grille has the best in The Woodlands. Casual atmosphere and overall great southern gourmet food at a reasonable price, right in the heart of the Woodlands.

Nick’s Picks:

  • Chicken Fried Steak /Chicken

  • Spinach and Artichoke Dip

  • Jalapeno Corn

#4) Yucatan Taco Stand – $$

24 Waterway Avenue #160 – Map

Fast, casual Latin fusion cuisine and over 75 varieties of pure agave Tequilas with some of the best Margaritas the area has to offer.

Nick’s Picks:

  • Garlic Beef Nachos

  • Spicy Tequila Shrimp Tacos

  • Brazilian Steak Chimichurri

#3) Hubbell & Hudson Kitchen – $$

4526 Research Forest Drive – Map

Another fast, casual place with a fantastic soup and salad bar, gourmet burgers, sandwiches, and flatbreads.

Nick’s Picks:

  • Jumbo Lump Crabcake

  • Cowboy or Black & Blue Burger

  • Avocado Bacon Melt Benedict

 #2) Schilleci’s New Orleans Kitchen – $$

9595 Six Pines Drive #1120 – Map

This restaurant made the “Woodlands Top 5 Restaurants” because until Schilleci’s opened in Market Street, The Woodlands was lacking in great Cajun/ Creole Food. What I love about this restaurant is that they perfectly season their food and also use Gambino’s Bread for their Po-Boys and Bread Pudding.

Nick’s Picks:

  • Shrimp Creole

  • Shrimp Po-Boy

  • New Orleans Bread Pudding with Praline Sauce

#1) Jasper’s – Gourmet Backyard Cuisine – $$$

Market Street, 9595 Six Pines Drive – Map

Iron Chef winner Kent Rathbun’s concept of taking simple backyard and homestyle dishes and elevating them to Gourmet masterpieces using fresh quality seasonal ingredients is a recipe for success. Jasper’s even has an absolutely beautiful ambiance and a great patio.

Nick’s Picks:

  • Maytag Blue Cheese Potato Chips

  • Slow Smoked Baby Back Ribs

  • Butterfinger Crème Brule
