The Woodlands Sports Authority location will reportedly be closing its doors soon. Along with The Woodlands location closing, many locations across the US will be shutting down.
According to a recent report from Reuters, the sporting goods retailer is expected to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy as early March, and to line up liquidators for the at least 150 stores that they plan to close.
In recent years, Sports Authority has slowly been losing business. With stores like Academy, Dick’s Sporting Goods and specialized stores like Luke’s Locker, Sports Authority has fallen behind as the leader in sporting goods and fitness equipment.
Sports Authority has been in talks with lenders for months now and has not been able to receive a cash flow to help stop its losses. There have been massive layoffs within the corporate structure of Sports Authority and they recently announced closings across the board.
The Woodlands location has not yet given a set date for when it will close its doors and many of the employees are not sure how much longer they will have a job.
The only upside to this is that Sports Authority is having massive sales. If you are looking to get any new workout or sports equipment head over the Sports Authority and stock up.
